The release of 31 Days of Summer by CJ Fallowfield (Book #2 in the 31 Days Series)

I am so excited for this one! I have been waiting for the release of 31 Days of Summer.
HOLY COW! This one kept me on my toes and I could not put it down.  Dan and Ellie have such a long and twisted road to each other. The many trials and tribulations are quite relatable and I found myself lost in their world again.

This one was of my favorite follow up book in a series. The characters frustrated me at times with their stubbornness but honestly I felt they were reacting very much in line with what reality might be.  These two grabbed me in book one and I could not be more pleased with this book.

I don't want to give away the book so sorry for my vagueness. :-) Dan and Ellie navigate through many uncharted territories. You see them grow and change together and apart. It was a hard one emotionally but I wouldn't have it any other way.

This was a very well written book with lots of events that I did not see coming. I cried again with this one and felt at many points that my own heart was being ripped out! CJ Fallowfield did a fantastic job and I was not let down.

I really enjoyed the intertwining of characters from her other series as it gave a different dimension to those characters as well. A lot of thought and heart went into this book that much is obvious. I don't know if CJ came out of that one unscathed. :-)

Check out 31 Days of Summer by CJ Fallowfield if you have not read the first in this 2 book series check out 31 Days of Winter first.

So excited!!!

Cover Reveal: Never Forgotten Love: A Story of Second Chances by S.M Stryker

Cover Reveal

1510726_10152665059468401_8121533226074735733_n

Title: Never Forgotten Love ~ A story of Second Chances
Release Date: 27th December 2014
Cover Design: Stephanie Tkach

Synopsis:

Beckett was smaller than most boys his age, having little to no self-esteem or confidence because of the verbally and physical abuse he faced at the hands of his mother, the one person who should love him unconditionally, because of this he was an easy target for other kids to pick on him. But He found his best friend in Harlow. Not only was she beautiful, she was tough too. She was always there for him from the first day in first grade. They spent every minute of their time together as young children that was allowed, he even helped her with her interest in cupcakes.

As they grew older, that started spending a lot of time at the local park talking about their dreams for the future. That is until Beckett had to move and leave Harlow behind, he was thirteen and devastated. They promised to stay in touch, Harlow gave him a bracelet with a half of a heart medallion that when put together said 'Best Friends Always' but that ended when Beckett's mother took away his belongings including his computer and phone which had all of Harlow's information in it.

In high school, he was still the little guy, and continued to be the subject of bullying, so he started to take Krav Mega classes to learn to protect himself and regain his self-esteem and confidence. After graduating high school he finally grew, he wasn't the same little boy that always seemed to have the kick me sign on his back. Even after Ten years, Beckett never went a day without thinking of Harlow, every decision he ever made, was made with her in mind. He began working for Richard in high school in his computer software upstart. After college Richard talked Beckett into hiring a private investigator to look for Harlow, but she was off the grid. Will Beckett find Harlow? and if he does will she forgive him for breaking their promise? Or maybe she is married already, and what demons does she carry? this story is about lost loves, best friends and second chances. This book is a series, You won't have to read the first one to understand the following. but it will cross over.

My review:
I really love Beckett and Harlow. They both have horrible pasts that does not keep them down and out of love and life. Beckett has a drive to better and not give up. He is able to realize life can go on if he keeps on trying to do his best instead of being sucked into negative things. I am so glad he had Richard as a positive male role model after his family with Harlow is ripped away from him. He never forgets about her and strives to make sure that if he finds her one day that he is a worthy man of her love and friendship.

Harlow is another great character in this book. She is strong and realistic in how she deals with what has happened to her. I find a little of myself in her and very relatable.  I love how she is able to open herself up to the possibilities with Beckett. She has more strength inside her then she realizes. Harlow never forgot Beckett either and felt betrayed for many years until he was able to explain when they meet up again.

Teasers

This story is about a strong friendship turned to real love. They have issues and struggles like others but like S. M Stryker's other book I find them to be believable, real characters that I could have met in real life. S.M Stryker got me again and I am glad I was able to read this book. It's as if parts of my life are on paper. This was a well written and thought out story that I really loved. It was sweet and everyone should experience in their life the true friendship that Beckett and Harlow have.

About S.M. Stryker

download (1)S.M. Stryker grew up on a small farm in Oregon with her two brothers. She married her husband 27 years ago. It was important to her to be able to stay at home to raise their four daughters. She wasn't an avid reader, although she always thought her life would make a good book. A few years ago she picked up FSOG and The Crossfire Series and was drawn to the characters; the storylines moved her more than anything. Her life changed at that point, she could relate to the characters and what they had gone through. She devoured books after that, sometimes reading 8-10 books a week, and finding new authors she enjoyed reading. She couldn't be without a book, her IPad or IPhone anything that she could download her kindle app onto. Knowing she had always wanted to write but kept putting it off, she emailed a few of her favourite authors that gave her some very good advice. So she finally went for it.

Review of Stolen Innocence by S.M. Stryker :Semi-Spoiler/Mature Content:

Alas my Kindle issues are solved and I was able to finally read this book. As a quick refresher Stolen Innocence by S.M. Stryker tells the story of Parker Dane and Ian Blake.  Several chance meetings bring these two together. Parker has a past that she is afraid to tell anyone about.

After turning 18 she moves out of her family home to start over.  After running into Ian literally and by chance Ian decides that he has to know her and not let her run away.  Reluctantly Parker accepts the invitation and a wonderfully connected romance blossoms. There are bumps along the way and Parker finally tells Ian what her secret is. Parker feels no one should have to burden others with her secret.

This book has mature content and the story line deals with an issue that is not delved into everyday by an author. S.M. Stryker did a fantastic job of writing the characters and how they interacted with each other. I enjoyed how the story line was paced and I especially liked that Ian was not afraid of his feelings from the get go and was not afraid to tell her. This was a refreshing change from the alpha male dominate.  He was wonderful. I'm glad I found my Ian. Parker was written just as well. She was dealing with serious sexual abuse issues and was able to one push herself to do her best so that when she was 18 should would be capable of changing her fate and two she was still open to love and affection. Now it wasn't easy for her but she didn't back down either. It really hit home for me.

I think S.M. Stryker did a phenomenal job writing a story about a tough topic. Her writing style flowed effortlessly and kept me interested from the first page. I'm still processing this book and am in awe of how emotionally connected I was with it.

This was a great book.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The following interview was submitted by the author. These questions were not asked by me but we felt it was important to include the information. Enjoy!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

If this book is part of a series, tell us a little about it?
It’s about three girls, that are connected through the series, going through a kidnapping. The main character’s are typically normal teenage girls ripped from their daily lives and forced to fight for their lives. The last girl, the main character of the third and final book, has had her life controlled by being taken at a young age and now she’s fighting for other girls not to go through what she and the other two girls did.

What made you write about a kidnapping?
Well, it’s an uncomfortable topic, very few people discuss it, and I think that’s an issue. We never talk about it until it’s too late. Someone goes missing, and if they aren’t seen or no one knows what happens to them, then we don’t know if we will ever see them again. I hope that people will read the book and know that they have to think about it, but they can’t let it take over their lives. Some people prepare for the apocalypse, but what about a danger that’s here right now? I don’t know what I would do if I was taken, but I wanted to raise awareness so people can learn that they have to take a few precautions.

What made you have the characters interact the way they do?
I made Steve creepy because I thought, what person would take a girl, much less thirteen of them? Then you have to think of a reason why he did it, and whether logical or not to readers, it had to make sense to him. No one likes him as a character, but he was a driving force of the story. He needed a reason, he needed something to live for, and I gave that to him. Garrett was raised with Steve, so he does what he feels will protect him, but he also wants to protect the girls that come into the house. It’s just how he is, he knows it’s dangerous, but he wants to help them. Anna is this empty shell basically, when you think about her she isn’t dynamic, she’s flat in a way until the middle of the book. She’s been torn away from her family, trying to figure out what happened, why it happened and her feelings. She feels the only way to live through this is to play along. She feels defeated until she has something to fight for and that’s when you see her change.

What do you think people will think of the book?
I had my work on a website for a few years, and I got a lot of mixed reviews. There were mostly good words said, and it became very popular and I had a few readers tell me that they were going to be more cautious when going out at night. I’m not telling you to be suspicious of everyone, just be cautious about your surroundings. Keep yourself safe and learn what looks dangerous, or even what looks harmless, but could cause trouble. Then there were a few people that had the opposite opinion, they told me that I was basically the devil and that I didn’t deserve the book to become popular, that I was against religion and many other things. While those were the minority of the readers I had, I realize the book is an uncomfortable topic and few people want to think about it. I don’t apologize for starting the topic, and I just hope people who read will understand that I just want them to be vigilant.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?
It was complicated, the characters, the setting and even just the story. It’s uncomfortable to write, and even uncomfortable to discuss with friends because they think it’s so strange that I choose this topic to write about.

What else have you written?
I have dipped into a lot of genres, but I really enjoy Thrillers and Suspense the best. It’s exciting to write and I hope it’s just as exciting to read for those that read my books.

The release of 31 Days of Winter by CJ Fallowfield (31 Days Book #1)

Please check out the release of 31 Days of winter by CJ Fallowfield on December 1st! This was a great read. There was just something about it that caught me and strung me along :-)

My Review:

** spoiler alert ** ***ARC was given for an honest review ***

This book took me from the first page. I could not put it down. It was very well written, very well paced and a little bit different than most of the other romances I've read recently. I really enjoyed the pace of the book as well as the character development.

Ellie is a girl who just learned that her fiancé has been cheating on her and not only cheating but was with some not so wonderful types of women. She learns that he has drained their joint bank account and six months ago lost his job as well.

Her best friend encourages her to take a month and get herself back together.
So Ellie up and quits her job and rents a place where she plans on writing her first novel.

While there Ellie meets Dan who seems to know a lot about the caretaker of her rental. The instant attraction they feel is electric. Dan tries very hard to fight his attraction to Ellie but fails miserably. After much back-and-forth and conflicting messages Ellie and Dan finally get together.

However Dan's hot and cold treatment of Ellie has her running home from him early after she learns some of his secrets.

This book has a great balance of alpha male along with your typical sweet romance characteristics. I am looking forward to the next part in the series to see what happens to Dan and Ellie.

C.J. did a wonderful job with this book. It was hard to walk away from. Definitely having a book hangover after this one.
